This Chatserver supports NickServ, a system to register your nickname and prevent other chatters from using your nickname. Some things in this chatroom will only be available to registered users. Registration is completely optional, you are welcome to use the chatroom as a guest or with unregistered nicknames.
1 - Nickname
Make sure you currently have the nickname you want to register. To change your nickname
you don't have to sign in again, you can use a command to change your nickname.
Commands start with a forward-slash "/" immediately followed by the command name. To change your
nickname, use this command:
If your chosen nickname is already registered by another user, you will get a notice to identify yourself, otherwise your nickname will be changed by the server within 20 seconds.
If everything goes well, a message will be sent to the room to notify all chatters that you just changed your nickname.
Changing the nickname:

Change was successful:

2 - Registraton
Now we know that nobody else has registered your current nickname - otherwise the chatserver would have already changed your nickname. It is time to register your current nickname. You can do this with another command:
Note: you need to be chatting with your nickname for at least 5 minutes before you will be able to register it.
In this line you need to replace password with a password of your choice, but it cannot be the same word as your nickname. And you need to replace email with a working email address for you. It is important that you use a working email address because this is where your passcode for registration will be sent.
If everything goes well, you will immediately get a message from NickServ, telling you that the passcode has been sent to your email.
Here is an example. The user with the nickname Kangar00 wants to register this name and chooses the password pass1234 (which is a bad idea since it is a very weak password):
Register the current nickname "Kangar00" with the password "pass1234":

Oops! Kangar00 has not been using the nickname for 5 minutes yet:

After waiting 5 minutes and trying again NickServ says that the registration was successful and the passcode has been sent:

When you see that line you know that step 1 of the registration process was successful.
After the first step is completed, check your inbox for the email with the passcode. Give the mail system a few minutes to deliver the passcode, don't forget to check your Spam folder for the mail if it doesn't show up in your inbox. If you dont get a mail with your passcode within 24 hours please talk to one of the moderators.
In the email you reveice, you will find the command you have to type in chat to complete registration. The activation code is case sensitive and does not contain spaces - the best way to enter the code is to copy and paste everything between the quotes to the chat window.
The command will look like this:
In this line you need to replace passcode with the code that has been sent to you by email.
Here is an example. User Kangar00 finalizes the registration process:
The email from services@afterx.net with the passcode:

Copy and paste the line with the confirm command:

The correct passcode is sent and NickServ answers that registration is complete:

When you see your original password shown to you then you know the whole registration has been successful.
3 - Login
You are now registered and identified, but the next time you log in, you will need to provide your password on the login page. So make sure to remember your password or you won't be able to use your nickname.

4 - Lost Password
If you forgot or lost your password and cannot claim your nickname, please talk to one of the moderators in the room. A server administrator will need to tell the chatserver to mail your password to the email address you provided at registration.
